Well its been a while since we have sent out an update. But big things have been happening behind the scenes.

We have changed our trading currency from one that was based on hours to one that is now matched to the dollar. All existing balances have been converted. 1 hour (old currency) = 10 FERNS (new currency)

Come out to our upcoming POTLUCK get together. At the Community Ecogarden at 6PM on Tuesday July 6th. Here we will give everyone an update on the new currency valuation and an overview of how the online trading system works.

Your FERNS advisory committee is back at it. We’re determined to see an increase in the amount of FERNS traded. To date we’re reviewing the entire system to see where we could make any changes that will make it easier for you to use, and newcomers to understand. One of our goals is to see FERNS become a strong part of the business sector in Fernie. Think about how you can contribute to this goal? Do you offer business services? You may want to consider allocating a specific amount of your time per month to FERNS. You could display a sign that says “ask me about FERNS” or simply tell your customers or clients that you are involved in this project.

We have huge plans for autumn. With the support of our current members we’re going to ‘paint the town green’ with talk about FERNS. That’s right! We’re going on a spree to spread the word about the beauty of trade!
